End-User Consent

A plain-language explanation of how consent is collected, recorded, and honoured when a business uses Alphé to message its customers.

Last updated August 12, 2026

Alphé is a tool that a business uses to follow up with its own existing customers. This page explains, in plain terms, how consent works for the people who receive messages sent through Alphé.

Who receives messages

The people who receive messages through Alphé are existing customers of the business — individuals who have already received a service or made a purchase from that business before any message is sent. Alphé is not used for cold outreach, prospecting, or marketing to strangers. A business using Alphé agrees, under our Terms of Service, that it will only add customers with whom it already has a direct, existing relationship.

Businesses must not add phone numbers obtained from purchased, rented, or scraped contact lists. Every contact added must be a real customer the business has served.

How consent is confirmed

Before a business can add a customer to Alphé — whether manually or by CSV import — the person adding the customer must check a required confirmation box. This is exactly what the business owner sees in the app:

Add customer

The three-message sequence starts as soon as they're added.

Name
Sarah Doyle
Phone
+1 555 010 2233
I confirm this customer has agreed to receive text messages from my business regarding their service, including review requests.
Add customer
The "Add customer" screen inside Alphé — the consent box is unchecked, so the "Add customer" button is disabled and the customer cannot be created.

Customers can also opt in themselves — or opt in directly here.

The wording of the manual confirmation is:

"I confirm this customer has agreed to receive text messages from my business regarding their service, including review requests."

For CSV imports, the wording is:

"I confirm all customers in this list have agreed to receive text messages from my business."

This checkbox is mandatory. The "Add customer" and "Import" buttons are disabled until it is checked, so the business cannot proceed without actively confirming consent.

Consent audit trail

Alphé records the exact date and time the confirmation was given for each customer. This creates a permanent audit trail showing that the business confirmed consent at the moment the customer was added. The timestamp is stored against the customer record and can be used for compliance verification if required.

Messages are sent in the business's own name

Messages are sent by the business owner personally, in their own name and the business's name — not by Alphé as an anonymous sender. The opening line of each sequence identifies who is writing and why, for example: "Hi Sarah, this is Mike from ABC Roofing." The message is a follow-up to a service the business has already provided, not an unsolicited contact.

Clear sender identification

Every message clearly identifies the business sending it. The sender is named in the message body so the recipient always knows who is contacting them and why. There is no ambiguity about the source of the message.

Opt-out instructions in the first message

The first message in the sequence — the check-in — includes clear opt-out instructions. The recipient can reply STOP at any time to stop receiving further messages. Replying STOP immediately removes the customer from the sequence, and the business is responsible for honouring that opt-out and not re-adding the customer. Replying HELP returns support information.

Message frequency

A customer can expect to receive up to 3 messages per completed service: a check-in, a review request, and one follow-up reminder. No customer receives more than three messages for a single service unless they reply or start a conversation. Message and data rates may apply.

Summary

  • Messages go to existing customers only — never purchased lists.
  • Each message is sent in the business's own name, as a service follow-up.
  • Consent must be actively confirmed via a mandatory checkbox before any customer is added.
  • Alphé records the exact date and time of that confirmation for each customer.
  • Every message identifies the sender clearly.
  • The first message includes STOP opt-out instructions.
